I'll Have What She's Having...

Updated: May 22, 2020

NOTE: This post was originally published on April 6, 2018. On May 7, 2020, my re-designed website went live, simultaneously re-publishing all of my old blog posts.

What exactly is a ... Careergasm?

According to Sarah Vermunt the brilliant, Toronto-based Founder and Author of Careergasm: Find Your Way To Feel Good Work, a Careergasm is that feeling when the stars align and you finally find work that feels good. But can people really feel this way at work? In their career?

Sarah Vermunt not only thinks so, she's willing to help you get there -- or at least get you off to a good start! She offers an array of online courses (including some tasty freebies!) via her website Careergasm.com. She also offers one-on-one coaching as well as a published guide (she's working on a second!) on how to find feel-good work, as she calls it, all by yourself. Her writing has been featured in Forbes, Fortune, and Entrepreneur and she herself has appeared numerous times on Cityline as well as CTV's The Social as their go-to career expert.

Find out all about Sarah, Careergasm, her book(s) and her inspiring work through her website and/or her social media - which I highly recommend you visit at least once a day, as I do, to devour all of the incredible advice and insight she has to offer. She's like your mom and your best friend all rolled into one: nurturing and protective of your hopes and dreams, but also willing to give it to you straight.

I am sincerely enjoying her first book as well as her (totally free!?) Careergasm Crash Course. Reading Careergasm feels like many little epiphanies happening in quick succession. Dare I say, #multiplecareergasms? I don't know about you, but every bit I read sounds like it's speaking directly to me. Embrace You Inner Molly Ringwald? HOW DOES SHE KNOW ME SO WELL!?!

Over the years, I have experienced a few of what after some introspection I am now calling, "Fake Careergasms.” These were moments in my career when I felt like I had finally found the one, the job that would take me all the way, the job that felt gooooood .... until it didn't.

Stay tuned to the blog over the next few weeks while I unpack my career baggage as I embark on a journey of career self-discovery. Who knows, you might even learn from my cautionary tales…
