Nordic Bridges 2022

Harbourfront Centre

A national initiative led by Harbourfront Centre in partnership with 20+ Canadian arts and culture organizations fostering cultural exchange between Canada and the Nordic Region. Nordic Bridges presented multidisciplinary contemporary art, culture and ideas across Canada in 2022.

Role: Assistant Producer 

 

  • Developed and managed the Programming Partner application process which included a review by a diverse Advisory Committee that made recommendations for project funding across four programming pillars: Artistic Innovation, Accessibility and Inclusion, Indigenous Perspectives, and Resilience and Sustainability

  • Worked closely with the Producer and Harboufront's General Counsel to draft, negotiate and fully execute 20+ Programming Partner Agreements each with unique project delivery timelines and funding schedules 

  • Served as the primary point of contact for 20+ Programming Partners and Harbourfront Centre's internal programmers, as well as 8 Nordic National Contacts and a variety of key stakeholders from the Nordic Council of Ministers for Culture and the Nordic Embassies in Ottawa

  • Developed and managed an effective financial tracking system in collaboration with Harbourfront Centre's Finance Department that ensured Programming Partners, Artists and Contract Staff were paid accurately and on schedule

  • Coordinated and managed regular virtual meetings with Programming Partners and key stakeholders across 10 timezones

  • Assisted in the coordination and hosting of at least half a dozen visits from Nordic delegates, which included meetings with the Toronto Arts Council, Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council (among others) and private tours of local cultural institutions such as TIFF and the ROM, as well as The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and the Toronto International Festival of Authors 
     

Nordic Talks (Lead Producer)
 

  • Curated a series of panel discussions, bringing together diverse thought leaders from across Canada and the Nordic Region over socially-engaged topics related to the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals

  • Collaborated with members of Harbourfront Centre's newly established Digital Transformation department to film, edit and release talks as dynamic digital content 

Nordic–Canadian Fellowship in Environmental Journalism 
 

  • Worked closely with Lex Harvey, Fellowship Coordinator, to design and manage the application process by which 16 emerging journalists (8 Canadian, 8 Nordic) were onboarded into this unique fellowship program 

  • Supported the Fellowship Coordinator in planning and executing a virtual boot camp complete with a keynote speaker, panel discussions, workshops and networking opportunities 

  • Led a webinar on Personal Branding for emerging journalists as part of the virtual boot camp 

  • Independently established a connection with LinkedIn for Journalists to enrol Fellows in the program complete with a 1-year membership to the exclusive 'LinkedIn for Journalists' group and a complimentary upgrade to LinkedIn Premium

  • Worked closely with a representative from Corporate Traveller: Stage, Screen and Sports to coordinate travel for Fellows, Mentors and Staff from across Canada and the Nordics for a week-long in-person boot camp in Tromsø and Oslo, Norway 
     

Interim Marketing and Communications Lead (Sep. 2019 — Dec. 2020, Sept. 2021 — Jan. 2022)
 

  • Led the development, build and content management of NordicBridges.ca​​

  • Coordinated auditing and user testing to ensure website accessibility in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), laying the groundwork for a similar approach to be taken with the redesign of HarbourfrontCentre.com 

  • Established a relationship with Creative Users Projects who granted us permission to use their established system of access symbols in the event listings, making access features of events easier for patrons to identify 

  • Advocated for the integration of accessibility best practices in the development of promotional content for Nordic Bridges and broader Harbourfront Centre programming in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 or better 

    • Took the initiative to personally record a visually descriptive voice-over for the official trailer, in English and French

Micro-Theatre Festival where 5 original plays were created  in 1 day

Role: Festival Producer

 

  • Secured a $5000 grant through the Humber College Community Partnership Fund 

  • Brought together 40 students from 8 academic programs offered at Humber for experiential learning and networking

  • Secured $200+ worth of in-kind sponsorship through the establishment of a Printing Partnership with FASTSIGNS Etobicoke

  • Raised over $500 for Community Partners, Lakeshore Arts & the Regent Park Focus Youth Art & Media Centre as well as the Humber College Scholarship Fund

  • Design and content management of event website

  • Development and design of event branding, logo, promo materials & signage 

  • Development of digital marketing strategy including curation of social media presence on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter

  • Produced a promotional video in collaboration with videographer Venus Saini

  • Established a relationship with Community Partner, the Roncesvalles Village BIA

  • Raised over $1600 for our charities: Heart & Stroke Foundation & Humber College Scholarship Fund
